Beginning of the Fall Season
Does the fall season start on September 1st or September 22nd? Based on the astronomical definition of seasons, yes, the autumnal equinox (September 22) does mark the first day of fall (in the Northern Hemisphere). However, according to the meteorological definition of seasons, which is based on temperature cycles and the Gregorian calendar, the first day of fall is September 1. Whichever date you feel that fall starts, it's a beautiful time of the year. Photo credit: Lyndon Li, Unsplash

Enjoy all that the Hudson River Valley has to offer. Breathtaking displays of peak fall foliage, iconic homes of influential artists and authors, and a visit to the birthplace of a U.S. president are all a part of an 8-day journey down the Hudson River.
Historic Landmarks
The journey along the Hudson River takes you to historic sites that were critical to the development of our country. Iconic places you will visit include: Gothic Lyndhurst Mansion, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Lyndhurst's rooms are few and of a more modest scale, and strongly Gothic in character. Hallways are narrow, windows small and sharply arched, and ceilings are fantastically peaked, vaulted, and ornamented. The effect is at once gloomy, somber, and highly romantic; the large, double-height art gallery provides a contrast of light and space.
The house sits within a landscape park. The owners created lawns, planted specimen trees, and built a conservatory. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. Interesting facts: The Halloween That Almost Wasn't (1979) was shot here. Also it's been used as a filming location for The Blacklist and Project Runway.
